It’s skating time in London!

LondonSkate 2009 starts on 15 April and runs every Wednesday evening until the end of September.

Now in its ninth year, the season is a fab and totally FREE way of having fun on wheels and meeting new people. Each week between 200 and 500 skaters congregate on central London’s streets for a two hour skate, covering around ten to twelve miles.

This summer’s first skate meets on 15 April at the Hyde Park bandstand on Serpentine Road at 7.45pm for an 8pm departure.

Each week new routes will be posted on the LondonSkate website, and as always LondonSkate will be marshaled by experienced skaters, who keep the skate safe and slick.

Meanwhile the evening’s party vibe is maintained thanks to the Bassfreight sound system on a specially built bicycle and accompanied by the ASBOX radio linked repeaters, carried by skaters the system delivers an incredible amount of sound.

LondonSkate is always happy to welcome new skaters to the Wednesday events, while beginners should check the LondonSkate website for information and links to other great skating events across the capital.

And don’t worry if you haven’t got your own skates, as the London Skate Centre in Bayswater Road offers two hour rollerblade rentals for £7, or £10 overnight.
