Beijing Games Giant Screen in Trafalgar Square, London
A giant screen has been installed in Trafalgar Square, at the foot of Nelson’s Column, to broadcast coverage of the Beijing Games each day from 8am-9pm, starting with the opening ceremony on Friday 8 August. Visitors to the square will be able to keep up to date with how the Games are progressing.
The screen will remain in place for the Olympic handover ceremony on Sunday 24 August, so Londoners can proudly watch as the Mayor of London receives the Olympic flag on behalf of London and the rest of the UK.
The coverage of the Games will be complemented by the Trafalgar Square Festival, a free programme of exciting outdoor performances each Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7 to 23 August.
